OF THE MONTH:
Gel Candles....
When making Gel Candles, it is very
important to follow the manufacturer’s guidelines strictly to ensure a
properly made gel candle your customers can safely enjoy in their homes.
One of the key elements is fragrance oil. Make sure to check the
flashpoint of the oil you’re using and make sure it is no lower than 170
as recommended. Non-polar scents work best as they tend to blend
better with gel. One simple test you can use to determine the polarity
of an oil is to mix 75% mineral oil to 25% fragrance oil. If the fragrance
is completely soluble, it is non-polar. Clear colorless oils are nice as
they won’t tint your clear gel. Also make sure to only use up to
the recommended amount of oil per pound of gel. This varies depending on
which density of gel you’re using. For more detailed instructions, see
