DYE FLAKES:
High quality, concentrated professional candle dyes! Rich colors that are resistant to fading and bleeding.
Recommended usage is .1 to .3% (or approx. 1/2 gram per pound of wax). For the most precise measuring, we recommend using a good digital gram scale. Size of flakes may vary by color. One ounce of flakes will dye approx. 45 - 65lbs of wax. This will vary depending on the type of wax and additives used.
Tip: If you're looking for a good "true" black, try the Pitch Black dye flakes!

Pigments are less prone to fading and bleeding. As pigments do not actually disolve in wax,
they must be stirred well and any color particles not suspended in the wax should not be poured into your mold.

Each block dyes aprox. 15-20 lbs. of wax, depending on shade desired and additives used. Great for all types of wax including Soy and Gel too! Cut off chunks or scrape off shavings and measure on a scale for precise duplication every time.

PIGMENT DYES:
For Cut & Curl candles or overdipping pillars and molded candles! Suggested useage is from 1 to 5% in paraffin wax, dip at approx. 160 degrees F, allow to cool between dips. Pigments resist bleeding and can be mixed to create a variety of other colors and shades. Suggested usage is 1-2% but are sometimes used up to 5% for a very opaque effect.

LIQUID CANDLE DYES: Best Quality Liquid Dyes, Highly Concentrated!
Our Shades™ Liquid Dyes are packaged in clear glass Boston Round bottles with dropper tops. Each color can be made into different shades by adjusting the useage amount (see suggested use percentages below - .05% equals approximately 7 drops of dye per pound of wax). One oz. of dye should color approx. 125 lbs of wax (one lb.of dye per 2,000 lbs) to a medium shade. Suggested usage varies for each color & shade, and will vary depending upon wax formula and additives. Once you get the shade you want, keep notes on the amount and measure used for easier color duplication in future batches. For larger batches, 1 tsp of dye equals about 132 drops or 5 grams.
Note: These liquid dyes are very concentrated and have an odor to them. Once the dyes are diluted with wax and fragrance oil, this will not affect your finished candles.
Tip: Keep caps closed tightly or the liquids can dry out! If the bottle clogs up, remove cap and add a few drops of mineral oil to thin the liquid back out, replace cap and shake well. Use a pin to unclog squeeze caps.

LIQUID DYE REMOVER:

This Dye Remover / Hand Cleaner is great for removing liquid dye from hands and
equipment! Odorless, non-caustic liquid that's safe for use on skin and any non-porous
surfaces. Also works great for removing stubborn price stickers from glass jars!
Note: Liquid will turn to solid when cold. Just let sit at room temperature, or in a sink of
warm water to re-liquify.

POWDERED CANDLE DYES:

Professional strength dyes for the serious candlemaker!
The purest form of dye, this is what other dyes are made from!
Extremely concentrated, a little goes a LONG way!
Useage can vary from as little as .01% for a light shade, to .05% for a dark shade. Dissolving powder dyes in stearic acid prior to adding to wax can help with dispersion and help reduce undissolved particles in the wax.

Here are some example color blends:

red + yellow = orange
orange + brown = rust yellow + blue = green

blue + red = purple

*Note: Different shades of these colors can be
achieved by the amounts you mix in your wax
(ie: less red = pink, less orange = peach, less purple = violet/lavender, less brown = cream/tan,
less blue = light/sky blue, less turquoise = aqua, less rust = spice, etc.)
